EP "Business Analytics and Economics" is an innovative educational program included in the Register of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2019 and developed on the basis of the specialty "Economics".

EP "Business Analytics and Economics" takes 9th place according to the results of 2019 in the rating of NCE RK "Atameken".

License number for the direction of training KZ03LAA00008295, issued by the KKSON MES RK on 03/02/2017. Specialty 6В04109 - "Economics" is accredited by the Independent Kazakhstan Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IQAA) for a period of 5 years (05/29/2017-05/27/2022).


The purpose of the educational program "Business Analytics and Economics"

Training of highly educated competent professional personnel in the field of business analytics and economics, capable of becoming leaders in their chosen field of professional activity and competitive in the labor market, possessing fundamental knowledge, research skills, innovative methods and tools, information technologies and programming languages for collection, processing and analysis data, evaluation, planning, modeling, forecasting and effective management of financial and economic activities, resources of organizations, investment projects in conditions of uncertainty and risk

The EP "Business Analytics and Economics" develops unique knowledge, skills and abilities at the intersection of four areas: economics, statistics, information technologies for processing and analyzing Big Data, and economic analysis.

Learning paths:
 
Business analytics. Competencies in the field of deep statistical data processing incl. Big Data, planning and forecasting of economic processes, skills in complex analysis of business processes, mathematical and computer modeling, management decision-making based on mathematical methods of analysis and computer technology.
 
Assessment and forecasting of risks. Fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired by students in the learning process will allow graduates to successfully identify, assess and analyze economic risks of a diverse nature, develop effective strategies for responding and managing business processes in conditions of uncertainty using modern tools and programming languages.

Mathematics in Economics
The discipline allows you to form fundamental knowledge and skills in performing calculations, calculating applied problems of the economy, applying mathematical methods in economics, analyzing applied problems in the economy using a mathematical description of economic processes and mathematical methods.
 
Macroeconomics

Enterprise economy
The discipline is aimed at acquiring knowledge about the principles, mechanism and patterns of the functioning of the organization, developing skills in applying the methods of planning and managing the activities of the enterprise, its financial, material and labor resources, the results obtained in order to increase its efficiency.
 
International economics
The discipline is aimed at the formation of theoretical knowledge, skills and practical skills in the field of international economics, forms of methods and mechanisms for the implementation of international economic relations, identification and analysis of factors that have the greatest impact on the development of the economy at the present stage and in previous periods.
 
Management accounting (PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT CIMA Operational level)

The course develops the skills of professional use of MS Excel for solving business problems, rules for organizing data, methods for organizing calculations and visualizing data, using basic and "advanced" MS Excel tools, PowerQuery and PowerPivot add-ons, creating a system of company performance indicators and presenting them in a visual and convenient for making managerial decisions in Power BI.

The purpose of studying the discipline: mastering knowledge in the field of theory and practice of economic behavior, understanding the universal methods for studying economic agents, tools and mechanisms that affect behavior. The study of the influence of social, cognitive and emotional factors on economic behavior, economic decision making by individuals and institutions, and the consequences of this influence on market variables (prices, profits, resource allocation). The main object of study of behavioral economics is the boundaries of the rationality of economic agents. Students study the processes of collective choice, which also contain elements of cognitive errors and selfishness in decision-making by economic agents.
 
Game theory
The course is aimed at mastering the modern methodology of choosing and making optimal management decisions in a situation of uncertainty, opposing interests of various parties, conflict, the formation of ideas about the concepts and categories of game theory, classifications of strategic interactions, the development of skills in applying the principles, methods and methods of formalizing conflict situations in a game model , criteria and algorithms for their solution.

The discipline allows you to form theoretical knowledge and skills in applying the basic concepts and methods of investment project analysis, the formation of skills for evaluating and calculating performance indicators for the implementation of investment projects, as well as in applying the results of technical research and investment analysis technologies (Excel, MS Project, Project Expert) in the implementation of real projects.
 
monetary economics
The course is aimed at understanding the key aspects of monetary relations in the daily life of institutional units in financial markets; formation of analytical thinking within the framework of monetary theory; formation of a holistic understanding of the principles of the money market and its main instruments, the possibilities of their use by economic agents in order to maintain and increase the current liquidity of assets.
 
Competitiveness of the economy
The discipline develops the skills of analyzing and assessing the level of competitiveness of the economy in order to develop and implement approaches and measures to improve it, including promoting the creation of a favorable investment climate, developing an understanding of competitive strategies and methods for their application, identifying the principles of competitiveness, and determining the best ways to compete.
 
Business planning and forecasting in MS Excel, R or Python, Project Expert
The discipline allows you to form a set of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in planning the activities of companies, which boil down to the preparation of special documents - plans that define specific actions of the enterprise to achieve operational, tactical and strategic goals, skills in using MS Excel, R or Python, Project Expert.
 
Analysis and processing of Big Data
The discipline forms the skills of applying a set of approaches, tools and methods for processing and marking, analyzing and visualizing structured and unstructured data of a large volume and a significant variety, using new technologies and principles of mathematical and computational modeling, machine learning.
 
Fundamentals of Risk Management (FRM)
The discipline forms the knowledge and skills of applying the basic concepts of risk management to increase the value of the organization: the main types of risks, measurement and management tools; risk management mechanisms. Applying the Financial Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), measuring risk-adjusted performance, using multi-factor models. Ability to aggregate data and report on risks.
 
Risk Assessment and Modeling (FRM)
The discipline develops the skills to evaluate, apply methods and models of various types of risk: value at risk (VaR), expected deficit (ES), volatility and correlation, economic and regulatory capital, stress testing and scenario analysis, options pricing, fixed income pricing, hedging ; country and sovereign risk models and management, credit ratings, expected and unexpected losses; operational risk.
